Vanessa Hudgens - Sneakernight

I know literally nothing about High School Musical, and even less about High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3. Well, apart from what I learned from Same Difference. But I do know a great pop song when I hear one, and Vanessa 'The One From High School Musical' Hudgens has done one in 'Sneakernight'.

'Sneakernight' was out in the US last summer, but is now being pushed and released in Europe, so I've only just become aware of it. It's fun and it's about dancing. As far as I can ascertain, a 'sneaker night' is a night when one wears sneakers (rather, I suppose, than some cumbersome heels) in order to dance all night long. The spirit of the song seems to be an urge towards being pragmatic and sensible in our hedonistic all night dancing sessions. "Are you ready? Did you eat?" Hudgens asks us. After all, we "don't want you passing out after a couple of hours of beats". Fair play. My favourite bit is when the club shuts but, according to Vanessa, "this is far from the end... 'cause I've got comfortable footwear". This sounds like my kind of night out. Lady GaGa can keep her "I lost my phone", "I can't see straight anymore" shenanigans.

Here's the 'Sneakernight' video:
